Convert SVG to PNG
Slides, documents, email signatures and many social sites want a PNG, not an SVG. Drop your SVG files on Octoolo, type the width you need, and each one is drawn at exactly that size on your PC, with the transparent background kept. One file or a folder of icons at once.
How to convert SVG to PNG
- 1
Open SVG to PNG
Open Converters from Octoolo's home screen and pick SVG to PNG.
- 2
Drop the SVG files in
Drag the .svg files onto Drop SVG files here, or click it and choose them.
- 3
Set the format and width
Keep PNG under Picture format, and type the Width in pixels; the height follows the drawing's shape. 1024 is the starting value.
- 4
Convert and save
Press Convert to PNG, then Save on each row to name the file, or Save all as ZIP for the whole set.

How big the PNG will be
An SVG describes shapes, not pixels, so it has no size of its own. Octoolo draws it fresh at the width you type, from 16 to 8,192 pixels, and the height follows the drawing's proportions: a square icon at 512 becomes 512 × 512, a logo four times wider than it is tall becomes 2048 × 512 at 2048. Because the picture is drawn from the shapes, it is as sharp at 8,000 pixels as at 100; nothing is enlarged from pixels.
Pick the size the PNG will be used at, or the largest you will need: 512 for an app icon, 1024 to 2048 for a logo in a document or a slide, 3000 or more for print. Every file in the batch is drawn at the same width, so convert icons and banners in separate batches if they need different sizes. For PNGs wider than 8,192 pixels, or a width and height set independently, open the SVG in the Vector Editor and export from there.
When an SVG does not look right
Most logos and icons convert cleanly. The exceptions come from things an SVG fetches from elsewhere, which are not loaded when the drawing is rendered:
- Fonts linked from the web or from another file do not load, so the text falls back to another typeface. Converting text to outlines (shapes) before exporting the SVG avoids it; the Vector Editor does that with Type › Create outlines when the font is on your PC.
- Pictures linked from another file or a web address do not load either. Embed them in the SVG when you export it.
- Scripts and animation do not run. The PNG is one still picture of the drawing as it starts.
A drawing with no viewBox is given one from its width and height, so it scales as expected. A file that is not an SVG at all, or one that cannot be read, is marked on its row with the reason, and the other files carry on.
Where a PNG works and an SVG does not
SVG is the right format for websites and design files, because it stays sharp at any size. Outside those, support thins out quickly. Social networks expect JPG or PNG uploads, many email programs do not show SVG, and plenty of everyday software treats it as an unknown file.
A PNG goes everywhere and still keeps what makes a logo work: the transparent background, so it sits cleanly on any color, and crisp edges at the size you made it. Make the PNG at the largest size you will need, keep the SVG as your master, and come back to it for new sizes.
For forms or programs that take only JPG, choose JPG instead: see SVG to JPG, which puts the drawing on white. WebP keeps transparency like PNG in a smaller file, for websites.
Putting the PNG to work
A logo with a clear background is useful in more places than a website:
- Slides and documents, where it sits on any background color without a white box.
- Your own photos, as a mark in a corner: File › Place a picture… in the Photo Editor adds it as a layer you can size, turn and fade. See watermark photos.
- Videos, where the Video Editor lays a picture over the video for as long as you want, see-through if you like.
- Profile pictures and app icons that need a circle or rounded corners.
- Website icons, converted at 512, 192, 32 and 16 pixels; see the favicon generator.
- Email signatures, where a PNG shows up in mail programs that do not display SVG. Signatures are shown small, so make a narrow PNG for them.

Questions, answered
Will the PNG be blurry?
No. It is drawn from the shapes at the width you ask for, so edges are crisp at any size up to 8,192 pixels. Blur only appears when a PNG is enlarged afterwards.
Does the background stay transparent?
Yes. Anything without a fill in the SVG stays see-through in the PNG, and in a WebP. A JPG fills it with white.
Why does my text look different?
The SVG probably uses a font it loads from the web or another file, which does not load here. Turn the text into outlines before exporting the SVG.
Can I convert a whole folder of icons?
Yes. Select them all and drop them in; every one is drawn at the same width, and Save all as ZIP saves them together.
Can I set an exact pixel size?
The width, yes, and the height follows the drawing's shape. For a width and height set separately, use the Vector Editor's Export.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The SVG is drawn and the PNG written on your PC, with no internet needed, so logos for unreleased products and client work stay private.
