Video Editor · Windows 10 and 11
A video editor that keeps it simple
A timeline like the big editors' without the learning curve. Cut and join clips, add titles, music and captions, change the speed, and export an MP4 for any screen. It records your screen and converts videos too.
What you can do in the Video Editor
Everything a quick edit needs
Drop your clips in and they line up on the timeline, one after another. Drag their ends to trim them, press S to split, drag them into a new order. Above the video lane sit lanes for text and pictures, below it two for sound: music and voice.
- Titles: Title, Lower third, Caption, Statement, Quote, Meme and Label styles, five fonts, outlines, shadows and boxes behind the words.
- Each clip: speed from 0.1× to 8× with the pitch kept, volume up to 200%, mute, fade in and out, brightness, contrast and color, turn and mirror, fill or fit the frame and zoom.
- Pictures over the video: a logo or a sticker, see-through if you like, for as long as you want.
- Captions: bring in an .srt or .vtt subtitle file and every line is drawn onto the video.
- Every screen: landscape 16:9, vertical 9:16, square or 4:5, with bars in the color you pick.
- Voice and music: separate a clip's sound into its voice and its music with AI on your PC, to keep a speaker and drop the music behind them, or the other way round.
The project is kept on your computer as you work. Undo goes back up to a hundred steps.
Exports that play everywhere
Export makes an MP4 (H.264 and AAC) at 720p, 1080p or 4K, at Best, Balanced or Smaller file quality. It runs on your graphics card when it has a video encoder (NVIDIA, AMD or Intel), otherwise through Windows or the processor. You can also export a GIF or just the sound, and there is no watermark on anything.
Also in the Video Editor
- Screen recorder: a screen, a window or an area, with your microphone and the computer's sound.
- Convert video files: MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, AVI, WMV and 28 more formats, whole folders at once, often without re-encoding.
- Take the sound out of a video as MP3, WAV, M4A or 12 more.
Questions, answered
Is it hard to learn?
No. If you have dragged a file into a folder, you can cut a video in Octoolo. Each task in the list above opens the editor with a tip that shows the way.
Does it add a watermark?
No. Nothing is added to your videos, and there is no length limit.
Which videos can I edit?
Anything FFmpeg can read: MP4, MOV, MKV, AVI, WMV, WebM, MTS, phone videos and hundreds more. Pictures and music go on the timeline too.
Does it have transitions and effects?
Each clip can fade in and out, change speed and color, zoom and turn. Transitions between two clips, such as dissolves and wipes, are not in it yet.
What does it need?
Windows 10 or 11. The first time, Octoolo downloads FFmpeg, the video engine it works with: a one-time 77 MB download, checked and kept on your computer.
