Translate English to German
Write English in Text Studio and get German beside it from a model that runs on your computer. English to German is a 108 MB download, made once; after that it translates without a connection.
How to translate English to German

Open the translator
On Octoolo's home screen, search for Translator, or open Text Studio and press Translate in the bar above the text. The panel opens beside the page.

Sie or du
For "you", German chooses between the formal Sie and the familiar du. In business-like English the model mostly writes Sie: "Please bring the signed contract" became "Bitte bringen Sie den unterschriebenen Vertrag mit" in a test. In a casual sentence it can switch to du, sometimes within one text, so read it through once and make it consistent.
Long words and word order
German joins nouns into compounds (Donnerstagnachmittag, Thursday afternoon) and moves verbs to the end of a clause, so a German sentence can look very different from the English one even when it is right. The model handles both well on everyday text, capital letters and umlauts included. Word choice is where to look: in a test, "Check the budget" became "Überprüfen Sie den Haushalt", where Haushalt is the word for a public budget and a company would say Budget.
German from other languages
Octoolo has no direct model between German and languages other than English, so Spanish to German, for example, goes through English: Spanish to English, then English to German. It works, but details such as formal "you" can get lost on the way. German you receive is translated with German to English, a separate download.

Does it write Sie or du?
It picks from context, mostly Sie in neutral or business text. Check that one text uses one of them throughout.
Can it translate German into English?
