Convert PDF to JPG
Save the pages of a PDF as pictures for a slide, a chat, a website or a form that only takes images. Pick the format, the sharpness and the pages; a one-page PDF gives one picture, longer ones a ZIP of pictures named by page number. No account, no upload, no daily limit.
How to convert PDF to JPG
- 1
Open PDF to JPG
Open Converters from Octoolo's home screen and pick PDF to JPG.
- 2
Drop the PDFs in
Drag one PDF or several onto Drop PDFs here, or click it and choose them.
- 3
Choose format, sharpness and pages
Under Picture format pick JPG, PNG or WebP. Set Sharpness in dots per inch: 150 for screens and email, 300 for print. Leave Pages blank for every page, or type a range such as 1-3, 7, 10-12.
- 4
Convert and save
Press Convert to JPG. One page becomes one picture; more become a ZIP named after the PDF, with each picture numbered in page order. Save on a row saves that PDF's pictures; Save all as ZIP saves every PDF's.
Size and sharpness
A PDF page is measured in points, 72 to the inch, so the dots-per-inch setting decides how many pixels each page gets. The default, 150, is sharp on any screen and keeps files small; 300 matches ordinary print; 72 makes thumbnails. Anything from 36 to 600 can be typed in.
| Page size | At 150 dpi | At 300 dpi |
|---|---|---|
| US Letter, upright | 1275 × 1650 pixels | 2550 × 3300 pixels |
| A4, upright | 1240 × 1754 pixels | 2480 × 3508 pixels |
| 16:9 slide, 13.33 × 7.5 in | 2000 × 1125 pixels | 4000 × 2250 pixels |
JPG and WebP pictures are saved at 92% quality on a white background. PNG keeps every pixel and is drawn without a white fill, so parts of a page the PDF leaves unpainted stay transparent; most pages paint their own white, and look the same. For reading tiny print or printing a page large, the PDF itself stays the sharper choice, since its text has no pixels at all.
Picking pages
The Pages box takes single pages and ranges, separated by commas: 1 gives the cover, 2-5 four pages, 1-3, 7, 10-12 seven pictures. Page numbers count from the first page of the file, whatever is printed on the page itself. A range beyond the end of the document is simply ignored, and the Convert button waits until the box holds something it can read.
The pictures are named after the PDF with the page number, zero-padded so they sort in order: report-01.jpg, report-02.jpg. Unzip the result in File Explorer with Extract all. To cut the pages out as PDFs instead, see extract pages and split PDF.
What goes into the pictures
Each page is drawn as it is saved in the file: its text, pictures, turned pages and what has been saved into it. Marks you have added in the PDF Editor but not yet saved, such as a signature or a highlight, are not in the file, so save the PDF first and convert the saved copy.
Pages that were photos to begin with, such as a scan or a JPG turned into a PDF, come back at the size the dpi gives them, not at the photo's original size; keep the original photos if you need them full size. The words in a picture cannot be selected or searched; image to text reads them back out if you need them.
Why turn PDF pages into pictures
- Slides and documents that take pictures but not PDFs. Octoolo's Presentations and Documents both insert pictures.
- Chats and social posts, where a picture shows in the conversation and a PDF is only an attachment.
- Upload forms that want JPG, as some application and ID portals do.
- A preview image of a brochure, a menu or a flyer for a website; WebP at 150 dpi is the lightest choice.
- Cover thumbnails for an online listing of e-books, sheet music or courses you sell as PDFs: convert page 1 only.
- Printing at a photo kiosk or on a printer that only takes pictures from a USB stick: use 300 dpi.
Need the opposite? JPG to PDF makes a PDF from pictures. To resize or crop a page picture afterward, use the image resizer or crop image.

Questions, answered
Can I convert just one page to JPG?
Yes. Type its number in the Pages box, 1 for the cover for example, and only that page is drawn.
Can I save the pages as PNG or WebP instead?
Yes. Pick PNG or WebP under Picture format. PNG keeps every pixel; WebP makes the smallest files.
What resolution are the pictures?
Whatever you set under Sharpness, from 36 to 600 dots per inch. At the default 150, a Letter page becomes 1275 × 1650 pixels and an A4 page 1240 × 1754.
Why is my signature missing from the JPG?
It has not been saved into the PDF yet. Save the file in the PDF Editor, then convert the saved copy.
Can I convert several PDFs at once?
Yes. Drop them all in; each gets its own ZIP of pictures, and Save all as ZIP saves everything together.
Is the text in the pictures searchable?
No. A picture is only pixels. Keep the PDF for searching or copying the text, or read the words out of a picture with image to text.
